The Chew Chew

33 East Burlington Street
Riverside, IL 60546

Meet us where the food is handled with care

With more than 30 years in the restaurant industry, Scott Zimmer, the Chew Chew owner and executive chef, puts great care into the food he prepares.

Even as a teenager, Zimmer knew that he wanted to own a restaurant. He finds his calling here on Burlington Street where he owns both the Chew Chew as well as the Sawmilly Sandwich Shoppe next door.

But it’s not only the food in the Chew Chew’s split-level space with the vintage décor that Zimmer prepares with care. His staff is well trained in the menu and in the art of great service. With the hip space, the superb service, and the excellent food, Zimmer says it’s a hospitality trifecta.

Now about that food.

The menu changes seasonally and the specials change daily, but if you’re lucky, you’ll be able to start with the Bacon-Wrapped Dates or the Cordon Bleu Mac and Cheese before moving on to the Wild Crab Risotto or the Maui Chicken that’s basil-breaded and served with a mango salsa mixed with macadamia nuts.

There are also excellent vegetarian options like the roasted cauliflower bowl with avocado and goat cheese.

Owner and Executive Chef Scott Zimmer puts the same care into the food at the Chew Chew as he does into the award-winning, hand-crafted sandwiches served next door at the Sawmilly. This block on Burlington belongs to Chef Zimmer!
