Cross Into Northlake
Northlake is one of the youngest west suburban communities of Cook County, incorporated in 1949. Named after its intersecting main thoroughfares, North Avenue and Lake Street, this “City of Friendly People” is a growing, vibrant community ready to welcome you.
In addition to North and Lake, another major artery is Wolf Road. Commuters can get to and from Northlake easily using Interstates 294 or 290. Northlake sits just to the south of Franklin Park, due east of Elmhurst, north of Berkeley, and west of Melrose Park and River Grove. Home to vibrant shopping corridors along North Avenue, another major attraction is the 32-acre Centerpoint Preserve Park, with nature and bike trails adjoining the Des Plaines River.
The Veterans Park District serves most Northlake residents with a complete array of recreation programs available for junior through senior citizens. At the northernmost tip you’ll find West Leyden High School, which welcomes students from the adjacent suburbs of River Grove, Franklin Park, Schiller Park, Melrose Park and Rosemont in addition to Rosemont.
