The heart of the Hemingway District of Oak Park is Ernest Hemingway’s Birthplace Museum at 339 N. Oak Park Avenue.
While located within the Frank Lloyd Wright Historic District, this section of it is better known for Hemingway.
While at the Birthplace Museum, numerous other sites and attractions are nearby. Scoville Square is a great place to eat and shop and the nearby Scoville Park is home to Oak Park’s World War I memorial. Next to the park is the Oak Park Public Library which also houses several Ernest Hemingway collections. Unity Temple, the historic Oak Park Post Office and the Oak Park River Forest Museum are also nearby.
The close proximity of so many local landmarks in this area makes it a great place for walking or biking. And with a variety of local specialty shops and restaurants it is perfect for an afternoon of exploration.
