Vintage Base Ball Game

Come see base ball the way it was meant to be played – according to the rules of 1858, back when baseball was two separate words! This free event will feature the Chicago Salmon versus the Blue Island Brewmasters, both members of the Vintage Base Ball Association. The game will be held in Lindberg Park in Oak Park, in the open field along Greenfield Ave. Co-sponsored by the Park District of Oak Park and the Oak Park River Forest Historical Society.

LaGrange Pet Parade

The parade walks through downtown La Grange stepping off at 9:30am and is a route of approximately 1.5 miles. Along the parade route, there are four street announcing stations. This annual tradition is one of the most talked about parades of Chicagoland, drawing tens of thousands of people to the area. The Pet Parade provides fun and entertainment for the entire family, pets included!

LaGrange Carnival

Happening May 31-June 2, this lively community carnival has been a La Grange tradition for over three decades in conjunction with the annual Pet Parade. The carnival features spectacular rides with LED light displays, family favorites like bumper cars and Ferris wheel, games of chance, engaging games for children, and concessions. It is staged in the central business district on Harris Avenue between La Grange Road and Ashland Avenue.

Brookfield Farmers Market Opening Day

June 1 is opening day for the Brookfield Farmers Market, which is entering its 17th season! Shop for locally grown vegetables and fruits honey, as well as baked goods, sauces, soaps and unique artisan pieces each Saturday at the market. Be sure to check out the different special events and live music!

A Day in Our Village

This beloved community event serves as an annual celebration of Oak Park’s diversity and community involvement, and organizers are busy planning a memorable day worthy of this year’s half-century milestone. Riverside Farmers Market Opening Day

Shop your favorite summer produce at the Riverside Farmers Market, which begins Wednesday, June 5, and is stationed right by the village's historic water tower. Come back every Wednesday for more delicious fruits and vegetables!

Franklin Park Fest & Railroad Day

 Celebrate the wonderful community of Franklin Park and its railroad history June 6-9 with a huge carnival complete with rides, free live music, games, face painting, a petting zoo, a beer and wine garden and more! You can even walk around inside a real locomotive.

Thursday Night Out Returns

Enjoy live music as you wine and dine in downtown Oak Park each Thursday evening this summer, starting June 6. More than 20 Downtown Oak Park restaurants offer a variety of drinks, appetizers, entrees and desserts on the TNO menu. Tables and chairs are set up outside for patrons to enjoy the beautiful night air while dining.

Vintage Car Show

Come see dozens of beautiful and rare vintage automobiles on display on the streets around the Oak Park and River Forest Museum at the third annual Vintage Car Show, a free event co-sponsored by the Oak Park Vintage Auto Club and the museum. This family-friendly event is free to everyone and will include food trucks and live music. OPRF Museum will be open with free admission for all during the show.

"Let's Grow Together" is a community wellness event and Juneteenth celebration taking place on Saturday, June 8th, at Proviso East High School. The event will feature music, vendors, food, and a strong sense of community. It's an excellent opportunity for everyone to come together, celebrate, learn, and promote wellness.

Broadview, IL, is hosting a vibrant three-day Juneteenth celebration from June 14th to 16th at Schroeder Park. The festivities kick off with live music and a youth night, setting a lively tone for the weekend. The celebration continues with a Freedom Festival featuring various activities and concludes with a spectacular fireworks display. On Sunday, there will be an Empowerment Church gathering, offering a moment of reflection and unity. Everyone is invited to join in, learn, and explore the significance of Juneteenth through these engaging and educational events.

"There Goes the Neighborhood" Gangster Tour

Book your tickets now for a tour so fun, it should be criminal! Those on the tour will go through Oak Park and River Forest, visiting 15 houses, all of which were once occupied by major mobsters. Led by mob historian John Binder, you'll learn about the criminal careers of the former home owners, unique features of each building and rare information about the times spent inside.

Fairy Tale Fiesta

If you had the chance to meet Elsa and Anna, Cinderella or Belle, which would you choose? You don’t have to choose – you can meet them all at the North Riverside Park Mall fairy tale fiesta! Celebrate the fathers and father figures in your life like royalty. Expect dancing, magic tricks, princesses and more! Prince, princess and hero costumes are encouraged.

Oak Park's Juneteenth festivities begin with a flag-raising ceremony from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 12, in the courtyard at Village Hall, 123 Madison St. This free event will feature inspiring speakers, refreshments, and more, creating a meaningful start to the celebration. The community is encouraged to attend and participate.

"In Ernie's Footsteps: A Walking Tour of Young Hemingway's Oak Park."

See where the Nobel Prize-winning author got his start with the "In Ernie's Footsteps: A Walking Tour of Young Hemingway's Oak Park." This 90-minute  tour explores young Hemingway’s connections to Oak Park, guided by Dr. Nancy Sindelar, author of "Influencing Hemingway: The People and Places That Shaped His Life and Work." The tour includes a copy of the book as well.

The entire community is invited to a Juneteenth community cookout from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the south lawn of Village Hall, 123 Madison St. The free event will include a vendor market, music and of course, food. More details will be announced soon.

This event promises a day filled with music, food, and fun for all.
