The Village of North Riverside was incorporated in 1923 and covers over one and a half square miles. The centerpiece of the community is the Village Commons. Arguably one of the most beautifully executed green spaces in the western suburbs; it features a pond and fountain along with walking paths, picnic areas and a Veterans Memorial Gazebo.   North Riverside is also a shopping destination for visitors and locals. North Riverside Park Mall contains over 130 specialty shops and food venues. Be sure to check for events because occasionally there are special community events in the parking lot.
