Brookfield Zoo's renowned Holiday Magic, Chicagoland's largest and longest running lights festival, goes out with a bang on December 31st with Zoo Year's Eve. Beginning at 6PM, this exuberant celebration boasts a DJ spinning family-friendly tunes, party favors, fun games, and more at the zoo's Holly Jolly Theater. Families with younger tykes should head over to the Hamill Family Play Zoo, where kids make their own noisemakers and enjoy an early countdown at 8PM. Zoo Year's Eve activities are free with general admission of $19.85 for adults and $14.50 for seniors 65+ and children 3-11. Parking is $12. Hailed as "a musical gem" by The New York Times and consistently ranked one of the top 5 music venues in Chicagoland, Fitzgerald's Nightclub knows how to throw a rockin' party. This New Year's Eve, Chicago blues artist and guitar slinger Ronnie Baker Brooks takes the main stage at 9PM with his soulful, passionate twist on blues. Tickets for Baker Brooks cost $40, which includes party favors and a midnight champagne toast. In the Sidebar, Expo '76 & the Total Pro Horns will head into 2018 with an adventurous setlist spanning from '70s AM radio tunes to beer-guzzling dance jams. Not all worthy New Year's Eve events are late night affairs, and L!VE Café proves it. In keeping with the cafe's focus on development and transformation, L!VE will bid farewell to 2017 with a Community Vision Board Brunch. Instead of drafting ordinary resolutions, this event encourages us to look beyond ourselves and set goals for engaging the community in 2018. Maya Del Sol is ringing in 2018 with a one-two punch of vibrant Latin flavors and guaranteed good times; first is the New Year's Eve celebration, which will feature a special menu, live music by Joe Rendon & Friends, and champagne toasts at midnight. One of Oak Park's most approachable eateries invites you to welcome 2018 with flavorful and authentic Greek cuisine. Papaspiros is offering a $65-per-person four course meal, showcasing an assortment of the most popular dishes like fried zucchini with potato garlic spread, vegetarian mousaka,and baklava. 2017 was a buzzy year for dining in the Oak Park Area, but few openings garnered more praise than The Heritage in Forest Park. This intimate restaurant, specializing in seasonal American cuisine and creative cocktails, is offering three seatings for dinner on New Year's Eve. The first two slots, 5/5:30PM and 7:30/8PM, are $65 per person, while the 10/10:30PM seating costs $75 and includes a champagne toast at midnight. Guests thirsting for a sophisticated start to 2018 can choose from a number of upscale add-ons including black truffles, sturgeon cavier, and rare sparkling wine. A standout in Oak Park's blossoming craft brewery lineup, Wild Onion Tied House is a cosmopolitan gastropub with an always-evolving list of seasonal specialties and local craft beers. Families bidding 2019 farewell with children in tow should head to Oak Park's largest family New Year's Eve Party! Wonder Works Children's Museum, a 6,400 square-foot place for creative play, is home to "experience zones" that use art, performance, design, and building to spark children's imagination. On December 31st from 12PM-5PM, the museum's playful environment sets the stage for a New Year's Party featuring special games, crafts, noisemakers, parades, singing, and food. Admission is $3 for Wonder Works' members and $10 for non-members. For more information, click here
