Franklin Park is historically a railroad town with intersecting rail lines traveling through the Village. Lessor Franklin founded the Village around the rail lines in 1892. Currently we have created a railroad park after obtaining a 110-year old B-12 switching towner that is still under renovation as a future museum of rail memorabilia. The past few years we have sponsored a "Railroad Daze" celebration featuring vintage rail cars form various rail lines such as Metra, Canadian Pacific, Amtrak, etc. It becomes larger each year with visitors coming from many communities and states. We also have a caboose, built in 1929 that sits on this site. Franklin Park is also very proud of a new Veteran's Memorial constructed last year, bearing over 1000 names of men and women who have served in the armed forces.
