The Village of Maywood founded in 1869, is a bedroom community conveniently located ten miles west of the Chicago Loop. Maywood is rich in historical culture with sixteen structures on the National Historic Register. When visiting Maywood, you will find a wonderful selection of Victorian homes, four squares, bungalows, prairie school, and Queen Anne and vernacular homes. The Illinois Paririe path starts in Maywood and continues west to connect with the Grand Illinois Trail. Upon completion in the year 2000, the Grand Illinois Trail will make a continuous bicycle trail 475 miles across Northern Illinois. Maywood is serviced by Metra and CTA transit service via PACE.
