The Village of Forest Park is more than 100 years old and is a Main Street Community. Madison Street is the Village's main business district and has undergone some massive reconstruction, which is esthetically pleasing to the eye. Additionaly, dining and entertainment along the main strip offers some of the best in the Western Suburbs.
The Village has a rich history, which includes orginal Cobble Stone Streets. Some of the cemeteries located on the outskirts of town, house many historically famous deceased individuals. Interested parties may tour the cemetaries to find Ernest Hemingway's parents, as well as members from the Hay Market Day riot and many other historical figures.
The Village hosts the largest St. Patricks Day Parade in western Cook County, held annually on Madison St.
The Village has an Aquatic Center located at the Park District of Forest Park which boasts 2 large water slides, a volleyball court, a child safe water sport area and a terrific concession stand.
The Park District of Forest Park, has been the site for the "No Gloves Nationals" for many years consecutively and is chosen because of the wonderfully maintained fields for play. Recently the park added an area for "in line" skaters and the park offers year round activities for all ages.
