The Village of Bellwood was incorporated in 1900 as a rural community. Since its incorporation, Bellwood has evolved into a pleasant Village of more than 20,000 residents. The Village of Bellwood is a unique blend of small-town comforts with many advantages of access to big city living, whereby at all main thoroughfares. The community is located approximately 13 miles west of downtown Chicago, south of O'Hare International Airport, and nearly 6-9 miles away from Oak Brook shops and boutiqes. Additionally, Bellwood has a great biking, hiking, jogging and nature trail called Prairie Path, which links to other bicycle paths in other municialities. Prairie Path is a nationally recognized recreational trail for the entire family.
