Incorporated in 1908, Berwyn is proud of its historic assets and its cultural and ethnic diversity. Visitors to the community will be delighted to discover an exceptional collection of late nineteenth-century architecture, including an unparalleled inventory of well-preserved Chicago-style bungalows. Several unique events annually celebrate Berwyn's historic assets and diverse community, including the Great American Mutt Show in May, a fun event featuring entertainment-based competitions for mixed-breed dogs, rescue dogs and others; and the Roosevelt Road Summer Street Fair which is a combined Berwyn/Oak Park event held in August. In September, car enthusiasts "get their kicks" admiring and showcasing the truly classy and classic cars displayed along Berwyn's portion of Historic Route 66. Also taking place in September is the Historic Depot District's Oktoberfest filled with fun, food and entertainment.
